Golden Gate

Golden Gate Bridge
San Francisco Bay

Golden Gate Bridge links San Francisco with Marin County. The Golden Gate Bridge is a 1.7 mile-long suspension bridge. It can be crossed by car, on bicycles or on foot.

On May 28, 1937, at twelve o'clock noon, President Franklin D. Roosevelt pressed a telegraph key in the White House opening the bridge.

Here, north of Los Angeles and just off Highway 101, is an enclave of public beaches and vacation rentals. Sea lions roar at night. And each night the sun goes down over the Pacific Ocean more beautifully than it did just the night before.

The color is not touched up. No camera filters were used.

I think of it as why California is called golden.
