Badlands National Park

The Lakota Indians and the French Trappers knew this as the badlands because of the difficulty of crossing it. It is the world's richest Oligocene epoch fossil bed, estimated to 23 to 35 million years old.

The Corn Palace

Beginning in 1892 farmers displayed their harvest on the building exterior. The decorations are completely removed every year and new murals are created.

The murals are made from thousands of bushels of corn, grain, grasses, wild oats, brome grass, blue grass, rye, straw and wheat.
