Himalayas

Himalayas, Tibet

Morning dawns as we head down slope to reach the airport. Turbo charged jets can only land when the air is thick in the morning before the heat causes it to rise.

With names like Lhasa, Lanzhou and Kathmandu Tibet is a land of mystery and beauty. The arid deserts and high peaks make travel to Tibet difficult for those not in shape. You are at 16,000 feet when they ask you to climb 300 steps in the Potala Palace of the Dalai Lama.

The people are friendly and curious and will come up to you. Take a rickshaw and a camera. The vistas and the sights are unforgetable.
