Estancia

Estancia Bar-b-que

Uruguay is big sky, grassland country. There are 3.5 million people, 11 million cattle, and 500,000 horses.

Estancia or ranch stay tourism started as a business in the 1980's as a way to supplement ranch income during bad economy times.

Casapueblo

Casapueblo is a unique house designed by Carlos Páez Vilaró on the road from Montevideo to the resort city of Punta del Este.

Vilaró's son Carlitos Paez, was one of the sixteen survivors of the crash of Uruguayan Air Force Flight 571. The house is meant to honor him.

Casapueblo is now a citadel-sculpture that includes a museum, an art gallery, and the Hotel Casapueblo.
